WhatsApp is rolling out WhatsApp Events updates that let a host invite people who do not have a WhatsApp account. The newsroom page shows November 5, 2026 and November 4, 2026.

Those friends can get an invite in time for holiday meetups.

The updated feature is rolling out to everyone over the following weeks.

How a host sends the invite

A host creates an event, adds a cover photo, and shares a link. People who do not have the app can then see the details and RSVP without downloading it.

WhatsApp says that invite can now reach everyone, even friends who do not have a WhatsApp account.

Events Home is the new place to create and send customized invites and to manage RSVPs. Hosts can send custom reminders. WhatsApp says those reminders keep everyone on the same page. Guests can also add a plus one.

The full list sits in Settings. Open Events there to see past and upcoming events, including ones a person created and ones they were invited to.

What guests cannot see

WhatsApp says it built the invites with privacy in mind. WhatsApp does not show a host’s phone number to guests the host does not know.

Guests who do not have a WhatsApp account see the event address only after they RSVP. People who already have an account are outside that address rule. The announcement does not say the same limit applies to them.

WhatsApp says personal messages and calls remain private and end-to-end encrypted, as they already were.

What people asked for

WhatsApp says people asked for one place to create and coordinate events, including a way to invite friends who are not on WhatsApp.

The company points to family, new friends, and a close circle. It says the best moments happen when those people are together in person.

The company says these updates are rolling out so people can plan a meetup more easily.
